World Cup 2010: U.S. Men's National Team Player Roster for Training Camp
The big surprise was no Charlie Davies on the roster. Which was in large part because his French club Sochaux didn't want to release him - and did not give him the required medical clearance. Davies is just 23 years old though, so it's probably for the best that he doesn't push it and only injury himself trying to get back. In truth, he's really lucky to be alive. However, I'd much rather see Davies than Robbie Findley, just don't think he's ready to play at this level.
Two welcome additions were the two forwards, Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez, both players are on goal scoring tears and the U.S. will need someone to step and score goals if they're going to have any chance at making it past the first round in South Africa. One name I thought should be on the roster is Freddy Adu. He's creative and deserve a chance after showing well in Greece. His teammate, Eddie Johnson, did make the cut, but for me, he too can't play at this level. He's fast but doesn't have the skill to hold on to the ball.
