Unsung Hero

Here’s our list of players who deserve some more attention. Sure, a lot of people know and recognize these names, but don't know these players well enough, with respect to what they do for their clubs and countries.

Justifably, Messi and Kaka and Cristiano are showered with praise, but there are some unsung names that deserve more sun and less shade.  Below are a few unsung heroes:

• Guti (Real Madrid)
• Iniesta (Barcelona)
• Xabi Alonso (Liverpool)
• David Bentley (Blackburn)
• Gareth Barry (Aston Villa)

At times, the unsung hero is a player who might not last long at their current club.  Their talent, allow hidden for now, begins to shine and big clubs come along and scoop them up if they haven't been grabbed already.
