Field size: 30 yards by 30 yards; a small square area

Number of players: entire team

Age range: 6-8

Description: Dribblers line up at one end and try to dribble the length of the square without getting the ball kicked away by a defender.  Start out with one defender in the middle and go until you have one player left who still has a ball - so players try to dribble from one end line to the other without losing their ball. This drill is similar to sharks and minnows but in this game you're also trying to dribble from one end line to the other.  So it's a better drill for working on dribbling at speed.

Players are going at pace, trying to dribble to the other end line so they have to keep the ball close to them so the ball doesn't go out of bounds or get kicked away by a defender.  Later, make is so those who lose their ball or have their ball knocked out of the area, become defenders too.  Or, vary it by saying defenders have to hop on one foot.  Adjust the game so it works for the age and skill level you're coaching. If it's too easy for the players to dribble to the other end with just one defender, add in a few more.
