In Beckham's first few minutes playing for the LA Galaxy against Chelsea he made a pass across the video, a diagonal ball, that is rarely seen in the MLS, and a skill that is hard to come by--someone who can make that laser pass right to the feet of a player, so they can score or get a team out of a jumbled area of pressure.

Passing is really an art though--at times the pass being more beautiful than the actual goal.  And that is where players like Beckham, Alonso, Deco, Xavi, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Riquelme, Zidane distinguish themselves and their teams.
