The LA Galaxy beat the Philadelphia Union 1-0 off an Edson Buddle goal from a David Beckham corner. The game went back and forth, with LA having a few chances to put the game away, Donvoan missing a one on one for instance, but the Union a tough young team that plays good one and two touch soccer.
Fred took an inadvertent elbow to the head from Juninho and had to leave the game to receive stitches. Fred is injured at the 45-second mark in the video below, a pretty bloody cut to his head.
Philadelphia though had numerous chances to tie the game, the best goal scoring chance coming off the foot of the outstanding Frenchmen Sebastien Le Toux. The ball was cut inside to him and he flicked the ball behind himself only to see Galaxy keeper Donovan Ricketts make a quick reaction save.
