Hope Solo, a goalkeeper for the United States Women's National Soccer Team, gets shot from side and shot from center, goal defending advice from her coach Phil Wheddon:
"We were trying to work on getting back into the good position. Sometimes field players let us down a little bit, so once you are on one side of the goal, the ball gets switched or passed too quickly. So it's more of a case of making a save on one side of the goal, and then getting back across quickly, getting balanced and coordinated for the second site. They really need to not drop back across the goal too early. Too many of our goalkeepers do that, so I was encouraged the goalkeeper to stay square to where the ball is coming from, and make the appropriate save. So when they do have to get back across the goal, they drop step quickly, and get across with a shuffle. Then they are there for the second save."
