Sure, the chances of the U.S. winning the Cup are very slim, but look at what they did at the Confederations Cup. You never know.

In contrast, England, whose senior players Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry recently settled on their World Cup bonuses with the FA, are not revealing the numbers.

They described it as a private arrangement with the players, who are pleased with the outcome. The figure, which is also worked out on a game-by-game basis and does not include the match fees being donated to charity, is thought to be around £450,000 per man if they go all the way and lift the trophy.

The respected Sport Ingintelligence website reports that World Cup favorites Spain have a maximum bonus of £500,000, while the other most fancied team, Brazil, are on £250,000 per man.
