Learn how to embarrass the competition.

We wanted to find out how people came to play soccer - how and why you became hooked on it.  Because your older brother or sister played.  Or is it apart of your culture and all around you.  Or is it because you played at school and fell in love with the game.  We would like to know how you became a soccer player and what tips and tricks set you on your path to success.

To begin with, we don't claim to know all, we just wanted to share our experience in the game and impart this knowledge to kids and moms and high school players who want that extra edge or the straight facts about becoming a great player.  We hope to add something to your enjoyment of the game, whether your a player or coach or fan.

It begins with playing with your friends in the park.  Ideally, as a kid you might be fortunate enough to play in the park with older former professional players; often people from different cultures where soccer takes on more importance than here in the US.

Playing soccer should be a freeing experience, and not necessarily surrounded all the time with coaching.  This is also a somewhat debatable idea, or question, whether a kid, once having the right technique, should play and play, in a way to somehow develop his own style rather than constantly being drilled and nagged - at a young age it is best to play and learn through playing and watching older talented players.  You need a good mentor to look up to and learn from.  This could be watching a player on TV or an older player that plays on a team near where you live.  This is what we want to add to your effort to become a great player.  We hope to act like a mentor and guide in your goal to become a great soccer player.

Here on this site we will talk about the need to play one and two touch - this is simple good soccer - at a high level you don't have time to dribble and make choices on the ball.

Although at the same time, often the greatest skill in soccer is the ability to take on players and dribble, but this has a time, place, or even mood - if your feeling good then go at players.

Everyone probably remembers Diego Maradona's run against England.  By taking on players, you can set up other players so they are in a position to take someone on.  Although making a simple pass across the field can open up the whole game.  For instance, you play the ball across the field to the wing where that players is one on one, and the other defenders don't have time to run over and support him.

Again, there is that time, when you pick up momentum and weave in and out and through defenders to score or make that goal scoring pass.  It is just that these moments are few and far between, so pick and choose your times.

Growing up in a some what of a small town, with limited access to good soccer, it was difficult to find good information on how to become a better player.  I often resorted to watching videos, or reading books - where they spell out the moves in the pages, I was always trying to find new tips, tricks, or anything that would makes me a better player.

That was the idea behind creating this website, to give information to kids in those smaller towns and areas where they don't have as much access to live soccer games, experienced coaches, quality camps, or former professional soccer players.

Hopefully we can be of some help and you will find some good information here that will help you become a better soccer player.
